I currently live in China, so I have lots of problems related to my IP address. For one, the Chinese government blocks lots of sites to users with a Chinese IP address. It’s part of their national security plan. Second, lots of sites block users outside of their country. Hulu, Netflix, and Pandora are available only inside The USA. BBC iPlayer, Sky Player, ITV, Demand 5, and Channel 4 are only available in The UK. There are also television and movie streaming websites that are restricted to other countries. Third, some sites block Chinese IP addresses because there are a lot of spammers with Chinese IPs, and blocking users from China means less spam to their site. This is why I need to change my IP with a VPN. If you’re in a similar situation, you might need to change your IP address as well. Not only will you be able to bypass local firewalls, but international firewalls will be useless as well!
